1.0 Introduction
Hello, well this is awkward. It's been quite sometime since the last YAP, a near 2 months and it's been a really busy time for me, where so much has happened at once. However, I feel like I have genuinely missed writing these blogs so whenever I find the time I am going to continue to write these, but thank you to everyone who has read or interacted with the website!
1.1 Some background
Now I'm not exactly a huge advocate for Darts, back before I went I probably could not tell you many Dart player names there was just no interest. But one of my housemates is a Darts fan and he got me and my other house mate tickets to go watch it in Leicester, which I kinda saw as a chance to get pissed although in the end got picked to be the designated driver. So a fun weekend was instore for all of us and well it was time to see where it would take us.
2.0 An adventure to the Midlands
One good thing about this trip is that I have never actually been to Leicester, now don't get me mistaken here I was looking forward to the Darts but that excitement grew later into the night, whereas we had got to Leicester quite early. To be quite fair to Leicester the city itself seemed nice, there were a few rough places but I mean you get that with most places, and the town centre seemed like a good place for shopping.
2.1 A Place to drink
Unfortunately I had pulled the short straw when it came down to the whole drinking thing, since trains were getting delayed we ended up having to drive, so my mate drove down from Manchester to my house in Stoke then I drove the rest. It was rather sad but at the same time I thought to myself if I enjoy the Darts sober then chances are I will prefer it in the long run. But we went to the classic Wetherspoons where I spoiled myself and had a cheeky cocktail, as we all know Spoons cocktails are about 2% alcohol, 48% soft drink and 50% ice so I was sure I would be safe. Afterwards we decided to go to a pub, god knows what the pub was actually called I think it was like O'Neil's or something, it was Irish but anyway we caught the first half of my beloved Spurs playing against Brighton.
2.2 To the Darts
After a day of soberness and some light refreshments it was time for the main event, the entertainment we had been waiting for, the sport of the ages. Throwing a bunch of sharp objects at a board, the wait was intense, the thrill was gauging and we were ready. As we entered the Arena their were pre match activities, e.g. a Selco Darts competition where you had to hit the yellow parts to win a prize, a big inflatable dart board which you had to kick a football at and other bits like shops boards to take photos in front of etc. The Selco competition we all entered however Jacob entered about 5 times until he final got the Selco Darts shirt. As we went in we were split off as our house mate in a pit of selfishness and disgrace went to sit on the tables at the front as we had to slum it at the back. Jokes aside the atmosphere was pretty phenomenal and the Darts players were decent, except the man we were hoping to show a performance Peter Wright let us down. But it was a fantastic contest.
