Is London worth the visit?

1.0 Introduction

Hey it's me! After a good couple of months I am back for another YAP, told you, I'm like a fly on Sh*t you won't get rid of me that easily. Now I'm Thinking about it that was a really bad analogy, welcome back to YAPVibe. So what's the crack, the occasion, well over the past few months I have had a few more adventures and I would like to share them with you. My first being albeit going to London just before Christmas.

1.1 Background

The plan was pretty simple drive down to London with Laura, do the London eye, Propose, go the theatre and then go Winter Wonderland the next day. Wait what, yes this was a proposal trip to my girlfriend of 2 and a half years, everything was prepared, the ring, the bookings surely nothing could go wrong.

2.0 The nightmare before Christmas

Excuse the terrible pun but genuinely when people say nothing could go wrong they deserve a slap. So the night before we were set to go I went to check my car, battery was dead (sigh) *great*. Fortunately I was able to borrow a jump starter kit which miraculously worked like a charm. Then the next morning I went to go and get some petrol and for the 2 minutes my car was switched off it had died, again, so I had to jumpstart it again although it was not half a struggle. Got to Tesco car park and it did it again, at this point I was thinking were not going to make it. However, the Japanese once again proved how robust their cars are because within an hour of driving it was back and it wasn't stopping for nobody.

However this was not merely the end of the nightmare, getting to London was just one part of the obstacle, the next was getting to our hotel which was in the centre of London near Hyde park. The traffic was testing and the drive was strenuous but we made it to West Ruislip which was the starting point of the Central line Tube. As keen eyed as ever we went into the station but West Ruislip this sounds like the place look the signs there. However, we were deceived by this and ended up at the wrong station. Fortunately the station we needed to go to was round the corner but yet again what a faff.

2.1 The Proposal

Great film with Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock just thought I'd mention. Finally after the long journey we had arrived at our hotel which was the Central Park Hotel, and just as things were picking up we were put through the wringer again as our room card did not work so we had to make another trip downstairs. One thing that I also did not tell you before is that during the drive down my booking for the London Eye got cancelled which deflated my planned proposal. So what happened, well I had a thought well we were getting ready and I just felt that today had been a tough day where not a lot had gone right and in the words I used as I got down on one knee it would be nice for one thing to go right. She looked at me and said no, slammed the door and left. She said YES and to celebrate we went for a cheeky Nando's. Just to note as well on the way to Nando's there was this really cool visual screen next to Tottenham Court road tube station.

2.2 Back to the future

While we were down in London Laura had the idea of going to see a musical in the theatre and knew that I liked Back to the future. Now when she had told me that she had booked this I was very pessimistic, as much as I really like the films I wasn't to sure how the musical was going to go and I was hoping for the best. It kinda turns out that the musical is really good, I was pleasantly surprised at how accurate the characters were and how talented the people playing the roles were, it was nothing short of brilliance. Thankfully they did not tarnish the story although maybe adding bits and some of the music parts were a bit meh but it was a decent show.

2.3 Walking in a Winter Wonderland

The final part to our trip, I'm not saying I had high hopes for Winter Wonderland but when I went as a child it was huge, and looked amazing. We paid £8 for tickets right and we got nothing short of a Christmas market in Lichfield, honestly a pathetic excuse of a market and everything is just so expensive. Maybe I'm being a bit harsh, I guess for me it's just kinda the same as what I've seen in other places, the food was good and the bars looked nice but the prices are just out of this world. We had a frankfurter Hotdog with cheese and bacon inside and it was £9 which was relatively cheap when I think about everywhere else. I don't really know what I was expecting to be honest, I did try and book Ice skating but it was fully booked. However, we were never short of a good laugh when it came to taking the mick out of people including ourselves which made the trip in itself.

3.0 Conclusion

Well I think I covered everything, we spent some time looking around Piccadilly circus and went to M&M World where yet again I experienced the meaning of premium prices. All in all, London is an expensive place and I would really only recommend going if you do have the money to burn because deep down their are nicer places. The hotel was nice and reasonably priced at £100 for 1 night, it was clean and offered most of the necessities. Although the trip may have been less than desired the outcome of a successful proposal and spending time with my new Fiancée made it worth it. So the trip in general gets a 10 but London I would say gets a 6, I think if you have got the money it's worth it but other than that I wouldn't really bother.

Thank you for reading.
