Prague 2017 YAP, a mesmerising experience.

Updated: Sep 28, 2022

1.0 Introduction

It's been a while since the last YAP, with the summer coming to a close and the start of my final year upon me I am going to find it quite difficult to continue writing these blogs. So this for now is a short goodbye since I'm really not sure when I will have the time to write another but the site will stay up and like I say hopefully there will be more to come in the future but enough with the tears lets get into it.

1.1 Background

So I went on this trip back in 2017, and at first I really was not interested in going at all. However there was nothing else to do and hell I wasn't going to deny a free holiday so I went and was very surprised with the outcome. It was somewhere I had never really thought of going and at first I did not really understand why my parents wanted to go, but with Prague being the capital it was hard not to feel it had something to offer. Did I also mention it was Christmas time.

2.0 The Cathedrals

Arriving in to Prague I felt it was very clear that it was a place of religion, like most places in Europe. One thing that was truly astonishing was the Cathedrals, now I'm not very religious but it was incredible to see them and go inside. The craftmanship and the beauty they held really makes you feel warm and well shocked, in some instances it did make me think about why I am not religious. But then I remembered the fact that I just simply find it difficult to believe in one person starting humanity, although to see the extents in which people go to for something they so truly believe in does ponder in my mind from time to time. Anyway I am going off track, they were everywhere and they really give the town the rustic charm that is replicated through out the city.

2.1 The views

So we had the opportunity well we were there to go to the top of one of the buildings which outlooked the market and part of the old side of town. Quite honestly I was kinda unsure what to think to this since I was like well what will there be to really look at. One thing about Prague that I learnt on my visit is that they are very good with architecture, some of the buildings were really nice and to over look the market place and the cathedrals was simply a sight to behold. Yet again I found myself shocked, and to think I was debating not going.

2.2 What Prague has to offer?

Ok we have talked about the views and the cathedrals but what else does Prague have to offer. Well like any other city Prague offers an abundance of services like shops, restaurants the usual kinda stuff. I will say that other than exploring the cities history we did not really touch on much else when we were there, but depending how long you go for will depend on how much you can fit in. We didn't cover everything but we did enough for the 3 days we spent there. I think like most city breaks you wouldn't really want to stay much longer than that. Christmas is a great time to go though with the Christmas Market and the cathedrals are all decorated, it's a very nice time of year to visit.

2.3 A Blissful Stroll

I know this may sound like the most boring trip ever and for some people I do not deny that it probably is, talking about it now is making me think Jesus did you seriously just walk around and look at things. To answer that simply yes we did, no we probably did a lot more but I can not really remember parts of it. But from what I can remember it was nice to just take in what the town had. Since a lot of it is pretty old, there are still buildings there that were built in the early centuries which have probably been modified slightly but are decorated with mosaic designs and religious monuments. If Prague is anything it is a place to explore.

3.0 Conclusion

So the reason I have done a past trip is because with me getting ready for my final year and also currently working another job I am as I said before quite strapped for time. Plus I am not currently doing a lot of traveling so there isn't particularly much to blog about at the moment. But thank you to everyone who has read my blogs over the summer it means a lot and I have really enjoyed writing them. Prague for me was a great visit and for me it gets a solid 7, maybe on my next visit there if there is one I will find more, but I would definitely recommend visiting.
