My visit to Preston, the north end YAP

1.0 Introduction

Hello everyone and welcome back to YAPVibe, firstly I would like to apologise for the lack of content that has been put out over the last 2 weeks. As I have been very busy with University and work I have not found the time get any content out. But away with the doom and gloom let's get into this weeks YAP, today we will be looking at Preston. The reason being that one of my dear housemates comes from Preston and invited us over for a visit last week, I was not sure what to expect from this journey but I found it quite surprising.

1.1 The journey to Preston Town

As we live in Manchester the first plan of action was to get there, so we decided to get the Northern train into Leyland which is where our housemates lives, a nice quite area where you will find Farrington Lodge which is a nice Georgian lodge with some beautiful gardens. Our journey into Preston town was taken via bus where we promptly arrived to one of the landmarks that even I had know idea about, which is that Preston has the largest bus stop in Europe. It was almost like something you would see in the 80s, the bus station looked old almost like it had not been updated for years. One of the main things I noticed about that side of Preston is that the town looks like it has not changed in about 30 years, but jokes aside that was not the main event, that is yet to come.

2.0 To Deepdale we go

The main event was at the Preston North end stadium, Deepdale. Where we watched the fierce rival of the Lily whites vs The Tangerines, The knob end vs the Donkey lashers, the seaside vs the city, I am running out of ideas. Preston North end vs Blackpool, as we arrived at the stadium there we some key photo's that I had to get, one of the great monuments that lies at the front of the stadium is the sir Tom

Finney memorial.

This beautiful memorial is dedicated to the Preston

Legend that died in February 2014, a truly sad day for all Preston fans. The stadium was a lot bigger than what I had expected and just before we went to our seats we had to perform the special ritual that every football fan will know, we went to get a pie.

The pies of Deepdale were very good I must say, one of our house mates even mentioned he would go back just for the pie, well another was disheartened by the lack of vegan options on the menu. With the food we made haste and got to our seats, we were in the invincibles stands and had a clear view of all the action on the pitch. It did rain for half of the game but the match was so tense we could barely leave our seats, with Preston 1-0 up for the whole game there were moments of fear when the opposition was in their half. Alas Preston held on till the end and the atmosphere was electric, fans were singing and chanting throughout the evening and there was a great buzz around the town, even I was cheering and chanting and I am not Preston fan.

2.1 The excitement continues

After an eventful evening at Deepdale we decided it called for a celebration, so we went into to town to get a pint, of course there was only one place to go and that was the Twelve Tellers otherwise known as Wetherspoons. Out of all the Wetherspoons I have been in I must admit that this was definitely caught my eye, the interior was fancy indeed and the building was pretty tremendous. One of the more posher Wetherspoons I have been in, although the wait was quite long for food and drinks. After we had filled up on a victorious feast and had a few drinks, a night out was in order. Our original plan was to go to a club called switch but it was closed, so we went to next best thing which was a club called Warehouse. Warehouse was a good night out, I have to say the music choices were good and as we were in football moods we made the most of the night by chatting football players names to each of the songs. The songs were along the lines of old pop hits and indie on the first floor and house music on the

second floor.

Now one big selling point for Preston is that if your after a cheap night out that is exactly what you will get, doubles were only £3, three quid, as someone who lives and goes out in Manchester that's half the price of one single in some clubs. the night was fun but ended after one of our house mates had drunk too much, we ended up going to a takeaway called Chick fi lei, no it's not the one your thinking of where we grab some hangover food and got a taxi home. As I love a bargain I may have made the most of the cheap drinks and to pay for that, threw up in my housemates sink. So all in all a goodnight out.

3.0 Conclusion

The next day we were pretty hungover and woke up late morning, so the plan was to go and get breakfast and go home. Now the important question does Preston hit the vibe, well I've got to say I had a thrilling night to say the least and as for the footie it was a delight. So Preston gets a solid 7 on the vibe scale from me, of course it will depend on what you do there and who you go with but I can't fault the time I had there. I know that this YAP has been a relatively short one, but as of the next couple of weeks I am very pressed for time, next week there will be no YAP due to me being away on holiday but I will be preparing some things well I am away, there will be a YAP on Miami which is where I am going coming up the week I come back hopefully depending on how jet lagged I am. But thank you to everyone who tunes in the website, it means a lot, I am hoping over the summer I will have a lot more to talk about and we will hopefully introduce more variety around these blogs.
