Good evening all, I hope you are well! Lovely bit of sunshine tonight and yet I find myself writing a blog on an Aquarium, typical really but oh well. So normally Fridays are for food YAPs but this time we will make an exception, I have got a few more blogs lined up and ready before I head off back to Manchester so do stay tuned for them in the next couple of weeks. But enough of that lets DIVE into this YAP.
1.1 A song of love and aquariums...
Now I do really enjoy going to aquariums, I don't really know what it is about them that I like so much but I guess as a kid I always had an interest in sharks and under sea creatures. It was probably because of all the SpongeBob I used to (still) watch. However I am particularly afraid of the ocean and what lives in it, so watching it behind the glass can be quite thrilling.
2.0 What is Blue Planet?
It is an aquarium based in Cheshire, not to far away from Cheshire Oaks. As you enter the Aquarium you will notice that there are different aspects of the Sea that you can visit, e.g. Coral reefs, Crocodile lake etc. As you travel round you will notice that they don't just cover Sea critters but also land animals like the tortoise and snakes. You will also notice as you walk around there are many signs that give you facts about each creature like where they came from and so on. There is a lot more creatures here than in most aquariums I have been to and they seem to be adding more overtime.
2.1 What makes it better than Sea Life?
Well Sea Life is rubbish, every time I have been to Sea Life it has been a rather short experience where most of the time they don't even have most of the creatures that you want to see. I wanted to see a Shark when I went to the one in Birmingham and I didn't get to see one, they did not even have a tunnel (disgraceful). Plus Sea Life is quite expensive as well, although so is Blue Planet. I guess what makes Blue Planet different is the amount they have on compared to Sea Life, rant over.
2.2 Is Blue Planet worth it?
It all really depends on if you actually like Aquariums, if your not particularly bothered about them then there is really no point in going. But if you do have an interest in the sea then it can be quite an insightful experience especially for kids, I went with my little sister and she really enjoyed learning about different creatures. I will say though it is one of them places that when you have been once you probably won't want to go back. The best part of Blue Planet for me was the tunnel which is pretty breath taking really. They do also have shows on throughout the day that I recommend people going to, like e.g. diving or feeding that sort of thing.
3.0 Conclusion
A short YAP indeed but I hope this gave you some insight into whether it is worth going. Obviously if you live near there I would definitely give it a look into say you have kids or you are interested in aquariums. I did once go to the Sea Life in London but that was about 12 years ago so I can't give you an accurate view on that. Don't bother going the Sea Life in Birmingham it's sh**. Anyway I would personally leave it to whether you enjoy this kind of thing but I would rate Blue Planet a 7, probably the best aquarium I have been to as of yet.
Thank you for reading this blog, I hope you enjoyed it!
